Mr Jeffrey Ng
Trumpet teacher
Trumpet | Band Direction | Music Education
Jeffrey Ng’s love for music began with a trumpet in his hands during secondary school—a passion that would grow into a lifelong calling. Guided by mentors such as Mr. Yap Thien Soo (Singapore Symphony Orchestra), Mr. Ng Kok Chew, and Mr. Tan Thiam Hee, he built a strong foundation in both performance and teaching.
He holds a Diploma in Band Directing (Merit) from the National Institute of Education Singapore (2007) and a Diploma in Counselling (2022)—tools that help him nurture young musicians with both skill and heart.
His musical journey has taken him across the globe, from Germany to Japan, through masterclasses and festivals that continue to inspire his work. On local stages, he has performed with the Singapore Wind Symphony, NIE Symphonic Band, Thomson Jazz Band, and City Swing Band.
For over 23 years, Holy Innocents’ High School has been at the center of his teaching life—starting as a section tutor and now serving as Band Director. He also leads the Gan Eng Seng Primary School Brass Band, mentors St. Hilda’s Secondary School Wind Orchestra, and guides young players as a Junior Instructor at two other secondary schools. Beyond the classroom, he serves as Chairman of the MacPherson Philharmonic Orchestra.
Above all, Jeffrey believes in helping every student find their own voice through music.
